Agartala, 23rd March 2025: In a significant development for football in the region, Mandar Tamhene Ji, CEO of North East United Football Club, and Juan Pedro Benali, the club’s Head Coach, held an important meeting today with Tripura’s Chief Minister, Manik Saha, and the founder of Tipra Motha, Pradyot Kishore Debbarma.

The primary agenda of the meeting was to explore ways to boost the growth of football in Tripura and the entire North-East region. Discussions revolved around creating more opportunities for young talent, improving infrastructure, and increasing the popularity of the sport in the region.

During the meeting, all parties agreed that the key to enhancing football in North-East India lies in establishing quality training centers, organizing local tournaments, and nurturing football talent from a young age. Various initiatives like football camps, coaching programs, and regional tournaments were suggested to help grow the sport’s popularity and create a strong football culture.

The representatives from North East United FC also expressed their interest in contributing to the development of football in Tripura and the North-East region. They are eager to collaborate with the Tripura government to bring their vision for football growth to life.

Chief Minister Manik Saha, while speaking on the occasion, emphasized, “We are committed to making football a key career path for our youth in Tripura. Our goal is to elevate the football talent from North-East India and showcase it on the global stage.”
